Even though Christmas shopping can find you in a crowd of merciless bargain hunters, it actually just might be less stressful than the planning and making of homemade gifts. But what did I know getting into it?
It's hard to tell but Frosty was drinking a 40' disguised in a paperbag. It's no small wonder too because among the few places that were open on Christmas, quite a few of them were booze shops. Aah...What would Christmas be without it?
We spent the evening before Christmas measuring and mixing ingredients to make, banana bread, zucchini~walnut bread, zucchini~apple bread, and pumpkin bread. 4 hours later...
12 loaves were born. After spending so much time making them, I found myself not wanting to part with these warm bundles of yumminess. I wonder how baker's do it? To slave all day in kitchen, over mixers and ovens, measuring cups, and flour. It is almost like giving birth, except I wouldn't know what that is like. I guess the only thing that could top making them, is seeing the faces of those that enjoyed them.
Speaking of enjoying, the best part of Christmas day was checking out the decorated homes. There is a street called "Candy Cane Lane" that gets all the rave and attention because every house on this street totally "decks the halls". Instead of heading there this year, we drove around the neighborhood and found quite a few delightful homes.

I love the photos
As far as baked goods go, I'll tell ya how we do it...we prefer to be "rolling in the dough" after all that hard work. Besides, no $$$ means no beer. Oops, sorry, but that's what D would say.
So gigantic inflatables were a big thing in Seattle too? What a hoot! They were all the rage here, although it's just so funny to see frosty next to a coconut tree, or a snowglobe in the middle of a patch of sundried grass.
Still too bad that you both couldn't make it...D was ready to take both of us on! Rarrrr! Bull and cat(s) fight!!!
P.S. I wanna link U too!
Regarding your comment on the image quality...I think you should just do what YOU feel comfortable. I retouch most all of my images in Adobe Photoshop CS2 or other as I see fit, due to my A-type personality (haha) but I like that "dreamy" quality that your images carry. Plus your writing style reflects your photo style too. Very easy and comfortable that makes me feel warm/cozy inside.
As for Dave's pic, that's on one of his better days. When we were "roomies" he had bad hair days while I pranced around without makeup and bad breath. Goes to prove the extent of 'comfortableness' that siblings, whether blood-related or not, can share in close quarters.
I love your photos Ru! I wish I could have been there to visit candy cane lane with you guys. I think I'd feel the same way about the bread. All that work and you don't get to enjoy it. I hope your belly was full and happy!
